Getting Back on Track

Last week was a double whammy for me - not enough exercise and too many birthday and Valentine's Day treats. Although I must say that, short of making myself sick, it's hard to wrap my brain around the concept of too much cake and candy! :-) It's just so yummy!

I feel better about this week so far, though. I haven't cut back as much as I should on the caloric intake of chocolate, but I have exercised 3 days in a row! I did a "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD
for cardio exercise on Sunday and again this morning (Tues), and yesterday I did a Pilates DVD.

Sounds like Mother Nature may give us an opportunity tomorrow for some cardio exercise via snow shoveling!

Great walking weather!

I agree with Dawn that the last couple of warm days were great for walking, but even today was great! We enjoyed the sunshine late this afternoon, and it was semi- light until 6pm. The days are getting longer, always a good thing at this time of year.

I missed walking 3 days this week, and plan to take better care of myself next week. I hope you all are able to keep your workout schedules. Hide all that Valentine's day chocolate!

Taste of Spring

Over 50 degrees in February! Can you believe it?! You can bet I made a point of getting out for a walk today and I hope you're able to as well. The strong winds made it a little less enjoyable than I'd anticipated but the sun's light and warmth felt wonderful! - Dawn

A new week!

In case you didn't have a perfect weekend, like me, and think you "blew it" over the weekend, like me, today begins a new week, and you can start fresh! I will resolve to be more careful with my food intake by writing everything down as eat it, and I will get more exercise!

Good luck on the plans you make for your week!

Above normal temps (think IQ!)

Hi y'all! I hope you enjoy the warmer temps that will make it very enjoyable to get outside for a walk this weekend! As I write this, I'm listening to the weather forecast. While today was lovely, and I got several short walks in, I'm really looking forward to walking my 3 mile routes the next 3 days.

I picked up "The power of less" by Leo Babauta at Barnes & Noble last week. I'm always a sucker for productivity books! One of his suggestions is to introduce a new habit in small increments. For example, if you think you can commit to exercising 30 minutes a day, consider bumping that down to 10 minutes, a more manageable length of time, and you won't be setting yourself up for failure. He also says gradual change is more lasting change. Hmmm... I might be able to apply that to other areas of my life as well.

God bless you all!
